What to do when life feels dark... | John 8:12
Christmas is more than fun, family, lights, and traditions. It is the reminder that Jesus stepped into a dark world as the Light we desperately needed. When you slow down and sit with that truth, everything changes. Darkness has no power over light. The moment light shows up, darkness loses every time. So many of us know what darkness feels like. The wondering. The panic. The fear. The confusion. The anxiety. The shame. Darkness does not have to do anything. It just has to be there. But here is the truth. Darkness can only exist where light is absent. And when the Light steps in, everything shifts. Peace rises. Hope returns. Your spirit settles. You start to see clearly again. This is why Jesus came. The Bible calls Him the Light of the World (John 1). Not a light. Not one of many lights. THE Light. Jesus brings life to every person searching for purpose, identity, hope, peace, and meaning. You will not find these things in accomplishment, success, applause, or control. You find them in a Person. You find them in Jesus. When His light enters your darkness, the lies you believed about yourself lose their power. “My situation is permanent.” “My identity is broken.” “I will never change.” “This is just who I am.” All of that begins to fall apart when the true Light shows up. John reminds us that this Light came for every human being without exception. Jesus did not wait for us to clean ourselves up. He came straight into our mess, our sin, and our confusion because He loves us. Some will miss Him. Some will ignore Him. Some will keep the blinders on. But to all who receive Him, to anyone who chooses to believe in His name, He gives the right to become children of God (John 1:12). That means God writes a new legal status over your life. No longer condemned. No longer lost. No longer stuck in shame. You are His. John 3:16 tells us why this matters so much at Christmas. God loved the world so deeply that He gave His Son so that we could have eternal life. So here is the question this Christmas: Will you reject the light or will you receive it Will you keep living in darkness or will you let the Light step in Jesus came for you. Put your name there.
